Make Money Online Blog of the Week: I’ve Tried That

Ive Tried That Make Money Online Blog of the WeekTired of scams and sites that promise to reveal those scams when they’re just actually scamming you more because of their endorsement of affiliate links when they haven’t really tried the service or product yet? You’re lucky that you have checked out this blog today since Flood of Dollars’ Make Money Online Blog of the Week is all about two bloggers spending their own money to inform people which money making opportunities are real opportunities and which are run by opportunists - Steve and Joe’s I’ve Tried That.

Here’s an interview with Joe Staples’, one of the blog authors, who I find hilarious, by the way.

FOD: Do you blog full-time? If not, what’s your dayjob? What do you enjoy the most doing aside from blogging?

Joe: There are actually two of us. Steve and I both blog part time. He is a self-employed Web administrator and I am a technical and marketing writer.

FOD: Please tell me something about the conception of your blog, what influenced you to put it up?

Joe: It was spawned during a conversation at one of Steve’s other sites, saveandmake.com (a unique work at home niche site; have a look). Someone posted a link to a program promising to deliver $100 dollars worth of gas for $25. In that conversation, I thought, “Wouldn’t it be cool if there were a site where people try out programs like this and then publish the results?” The idea was born, Steve and I talked about it a bit, then decided we’d build such a site.

FOD: Were you scammed yet? What make money online scam do you think is the most vicious and why?

Joe: I would have paid for Legitonlinejobs.com, but Steve is pretty savvy and told me I was a dumbass. We put money into the gas cards offer and have not yet seen a benefit, so the jury is still out on whether that is a scam. There are probably more “vicious” scams out there, but the worst we’ve reviewed is the legit online jobs outfit. It’s selling stuff that’s freely available and is intentionally misleading. I’m not counting the nigerian scam, which is pretty vicious, but which we can’t really claim to have “dealt with.” It was a joke from the beginning. The scam behaviors we’re seeing in the work-at-home field are nothing revolutionary; just garden variety sleight-of-hand and preying on the ignorance of eager people. Steve does an excellent deconstruction of those tactics in his post on recognizing the pre-sell page.

FOD: If you were given the chance to improve any service that allows people to make money online such as AdSense, Paid Survey or Paid to Complete Offer sites, and the like, which is it and what improvement will you implement on that service?

Joe: I would add a big, obnoxious banner that says: “WARNING: The operators of this site think you’re an idiot with lots of money to spend on crap. Proceed with caution.” As for AdSense, I would make every click worth $100 and count every click as a conversion.

FOD: What do you think it takes for someone to be successful in making money online?

Joe: Time. The Internet is a world of instant gratification, falsely raising hopes for quick money. I can examine Michael Jackson’s nostrils right now if I want to. Alas, making money online is like making money offline: you have to work hard, be patient, and learn a lot.

FOD: What question would you want to be asked about your blog? Please answer it, too.

Joe: I would like to be asked, “What are you wearing?” because then I could answer, “It’s not that kind of blog, moron!” I always wanted to say that.

If you want to be warned more of which get paid to do this and to do that you should and should not get into, go head over I’ve Tried That.

Thank, Joe, for taking time to answer the interview questions and keep on informing us gullible peeps about the real profitable ways of making money online.
