Those who would like to get more traffic for their sites but are obsessed with keyword-stuffing can definitely benefit from this information I have just recently confirmed.
Link building is a better traffic booster than writing web content made for search engines.
How did I find out about this? I have been experimenting on a blog that I stuff with keyword-rich content for more than a year now and it has never reached the first spot of the only 20,000,000 search engine results although it sometimes reaches the first page.
I think that many of the sites that are consistently on the first page are not even targeting the keywords that I have been tweaking my content with, these sites are still on the first page of the search engine results for the terms that I thought my blog deserves to be found with.
After analyzing what it is with those sites that causes them to outrank my content SEO’ed blog, I discovered they have more backlinks or inbound links compared with the number of IBL’s my blog has.
Want more proof that link building still rules when it comes to getting that coveted SERP (search engine results pages) placement?
See how John Chow has managed to pull off a successful Google bombing stint with his make money online reviews. Although it’s not all link building that John Chow did because I’m sure many of his blog readers would agree that his posts are of great quality, too, I think many SEO experts would say yes if asked if his link building review technique contributed greatly to John’s blog reaching Google SERP’s first spot.
Back to my own old SEO experiment, I will probably try to up the number of backlinks but I won’t pursue any link building project so agressively because I’ll be working on some more urgent projects and I’m quite content with the current growth rate of this niche blog.
I have also concluded that if I update it more frequently, the SERP position it reaches is not so bad since its target audience are industrious enough compared to the other niche blogs I’m maintaining to check the next few pages aside from the first page. And when these readers get to my blog, I’m glad to say that its average pageview per visitor is still something to be proud of. Maybe it is because I have kept its content consistent with its theme (what niche blogs are for) that maintains its satisfactory pageview rate.
Conclusion
This might sound confusing but my conclusion is that sure link building may be more effective in making your site more easily found. It’s the choice marketing method if you want search engines to drive more traffic for your blog but search engine optimized content, if done right (which is not to the point of annoying your readers), can complement well your blog promotion efforts.
If you have a blog that’s currently not doing well when it comes to the traffic it receives, you might want to carry out a similar analysis. SEO tools like Google Analytics and WeBuildPages tools might help.
