Infoproducts can be books or e-books, articles, or videos that teach you something. It’s a bit easier to sell if you’re the author and a bit harder if you’re not. Here are a couple of tips to help you out if your situation coincides with the latter.
Test it yourself. There’s nothing as powerful and convincing as firsthand experience and testimonials. More importantly, critics would hard to refute your words since it’s all about how you experienced it.
Establish your credentials. People are more inclined to buy from you if they know you’re a good and trustworthy person with excellent qualifications.
Use your friends as test subjects. Have them pay for it if you can but if not then give away a few samples.
Their positive feedback can help you sell thrice as much in the end. Encourage them to fully and freely express their comments so that you can capture the essence of what they’re saying. Customers have a way of knowing when a person’s laying it a bit too thick, and that’s why you need to get only the pertinent parts of your friends’ raves.
Try out products of competitors then compare and contrast without naming them. Customers naturally prefer buying something that has been proven better than others.
And last but not the least, take the time to learn the essentials of effective marketing. At the end of the day, infoproducts are just like any other commodity: it’s something you need to sell and earn profit from. If you don’t know how to identify your target market, overcome entry barriers, focus on your competitive advantage and other marketing basics, it would be definitely hard for you to sell an infoproduct even if you created it yourself!
John Chow has an excellent post on how to create an ebook and how to make money from it, too.
