Alexa Site Gets a New Look

Alexa Blog Traffic Tool

If you are trying to see the traffic flow of a website or if you are planning to make money online via monetizing a blog , the Alexa traffic ranking feature is one online tool that may interest you.

Wondering what is traffic rank all about?

The traffic rank is based on three months of aggregated historical traffic data from millions of Alexa Toolbar users and is a combined measure of page views and users (reach). As a first step, Alexa computes the reach and number of page views for all sites on the Web on a daily basis. The main Alexa traffic rank is based on the geometric mean of these two quantities averaged over time (so that the rank of a site reflects both the number of users who visit that site as well as the number of pages on the site viewed by those users). The three-month change is determined by comparing the site’s current rank with its rank from three months ago. For example, on July 1, the three-month change would show the difference between the rank based on traffic during the first quarter of the year and the rank based on traffic during the second quarter. via

Thanks to PCMoneyMaker, I got reminded about Amazon Mechanical Turk, which pays people to do tasks that computers can’t carry out.

How to Increase Blog Traffic in a Jiffy

Some bloggers’ idea of how to make a blog get more readers or traffic is to just keep on posting quality content. Ok, this might be true in some way. However, there are other methods to improve your chances of making your blog earn more traffic. I’ve written about them on one of the blogs I temporarily work on, Just Make Money Online.

Here are four tips that will make a highly visited blog dream come true.

1. Improved link building method.

One can start doing link building if the blog is already filled with useful content or great-to-read and even easy-to-recall blog posts. Start getting links by reviewing other blogs and linking to other blogs (use trackbacks to make sure you alert the blog owner).

2. Use long tail keywords. Research for those keyphrases, which are actually what people use or key in in searching for information using search engines. SEO (search engine optimization) tools like Sitemeter and Google Analytics can be used to get to those keyphrases. Write about them.

3. Optimize your titles and URL’s. Don’t make your readers guess what the blog post is about. Get straight to the core but make sure there’s still that factor that will make visitors read the whole blog post.

4. SEO your image. The title tag of images can be optimized to contain relevant keywords. You can also use a Google service that can help in making your images help you in your SEO efforts - enhanced image search.

Other ways to lead traffic to your blog is submitting your top blog posts to social bookmarking sites such as Digg, Reddit, Netscape, and StumbleUpon.

How to Never Run Out of Blog Posts

How to Cure Blogger's BlockIf you’d like to make money online through blogging, it is important to always be ready with fresh content for blog posts.  But what if one day you suddenly run out of things to blog about? If I may call it Blogger’s Block, how do you deal? Here are three fool-proof, ok, almost fool-proof ways to get rid of Blogger’s Block:

1. Add new feeds to your RSS reader.

If you happen to be a news blogger or someone who relays news while blogging or your blog’s theme requires fresh info delivered to their RSS readers, it’s plain logical to add more meat to your RSS reader for more blogging inspiration from other blogs or news sites. I’ve just added Freelance Switch today.  Get two RSS readers, I recommend Google Reader and Bloglines, so that whenever the plumber (Bloglines plumber is the image that shows whenever Bloglines is under maintenance) has to do its job, your RSS reading won’t get interrupted.
