Do you blog just whenever you feel like blogging? That’s fine if you are blogging for the sole purpose of venting out or expressing thoughts. Or simply put, that’s fine if you intend to keep your personal blog just that - a personal blog.
But what if you want to augment your income with the help of your blog? Definitely, blogging just “every now and then” won’t work. You have to have a plan on how to make your blogging for money endeavor take off.
In view of this came the decision to set up my own blogging goals, which is a list of to-do’s which may not be too ambitious but will most likely help me in keeping things in perspective.
Since Flood of Dollars is about making money online, it’s only logical that I try to make money online from it, while keeping a symbiotic relationship with my current and future readers. Although even without any motivation I’ll still do my best to make FOD as resourceful as possible, it never hurts to get incentives whenever it reaches some milestones. Without further adieu, here are what I’m planning to get at with this blog for the month of June:
Here is a snapshot of the Google Analytics stats of FOD.
Although I started writing for FOD since February, it’s only this mid-May that I was able to install Google Analytics on it for me to track its progress. And as you can see from its number of visitors considering it only tracked from Mid-May it only had 425 visitors which approximates to almost 850 visitors if I it has the same traffic flow from the start of the month.
Now what this has to do with my blogging goals? Of course, I’d like to base my goals on how this blog is currently faring. Here are what I wish to accomplish this month:

1. At least 20% increase in traffic
So from 850, it will be something worth celebrating for me if this blog reaches about 1,000+ visitors before June ends.
2. 200% increase in the number of pageviews
This may sound too hard to do but it’s one great challenge that I believe I’m armed enough to accomplish this month. If the cosmos is with me, it’s not impossible that I get a about 3,000+ pageviews this month from the 1,500+ (approximately from doubling the 817 pageviews shown by GA) FOD got this month.
3. At least 20% increase in average time on site that visitors spend on my blog
From 2:10, it will be lovely if the readers spend about 30 seconds more on this blog.
If I’d like to attain those goals what do I do? Here are my blog input plans:
1. A minimum of 35 blog posts
Hoping that many would be more of the how-to’s that many readers will appreciate.
2. More blog promotion moves
I’ve just started with a blog promotion challenge just a few days ago. But that’s just one of the strategies I’m planning to use this month.
3. Regular weekly features
Aside from decreasing the chances of having to rack your brain for some new posts weekly, I’ve learned from my other blogs that weekly features may help in getting more repeat traffic. So to up my chances in achieving the goals I’ve mentioned, within this week, I’ll be announcing two weekly features for the delight of FOD visitors.
What do you think? Am I making any sense with the goals I’ve set up? Got any suggestions? Care to share your own goals for your blog? I definitely would like to hear about them.
